Custom Antibody Production

If specificity of the custom antibody production is important, it is imperative that unique peptide sequences be selected. If the custom antibody production are to be used for ELISA, Immunolocalization, or Immunoprecipitation it is important that the sequences be from a hydrophilic portion of the protein that will be accessible to IgG in solution (i.e. make sure the sequence isn't buried in the core of the native protein). If there are no cysteins in the custom antibody production sequence, it is often advantageous to add a cystein at the N or C terminus to facilitate the coupling of the peptide to the carrier. This approach has the advantage of ensuring that the entire peptide sequence is available in the custom antibody production process.
